One author that fascinated me is Alvin Toffler. I studiously read his Third Wave, Future Shock, Powershift and Previews and presumptions. Even after reading could not cope up with the job in Tata Consultancy Services and had to come out of the Job as nobody wanted to work with me. Had to leave TCS after 5 years of service with them.
His thinking that information and knowledge are powerful and could not use them properly for my gain or rather to my advantage. His saying that it will be the information economy that will create powershift impressed me but it did not help me much. But his logic continued to impress as I continued to be in the service sector and not in the factory/industry sector. Only difference is that I worked in not-for-profit sector later which did not fetch me much monetary results as it was in TCS. I observed that I was not encouraged to participate in the big projects related to consultancy for Industry and those that were given to me were menial jobs. Rather they did not excite me also. There are innuemerable reasons for leaving TCS but Alvin Toffler's thinking continued to impress me. Somehow the books of him that I purchased were lost.
